7 ways to host friends

As you can tell there’s a theme with a lot of my blog posts- I love hosting. I think hosting friends and family is one of the best ways to form and strengthen connections with the people who matter the most to you. You are getting to welcome those people into your home and make memories with them. What could be better? There are a lot of different ways you can host your friends, here are some of my favorite.

  1. Dinner Party: They say classics are classics for a reason and I 100% subscribe to that. Dinner Parties are one of the best ways to host. You get to invite friends and family over to share a meal, drink a little, and have great conversations. If you want to have a little more fun I highly recommend throwing a theme in there. You can check out some of my dinner party hosting guides here if you need a little help.

  2. Viewing Party: Have friends over to watch the premier of a show, sports game, or movie. Theme your drinks and snacks to fit whatever you are watching. I think it’s makes it so much more fun to watch and experience the show or game together. You can also discuss after!

  3. Book Club: My friends and I have been talking about starting a book club FOREVER. I love this idea because it’s a reason to have a reoccurring get together, no one and done here. You can also have everyone bring different snacks or drinks and make it more of a potluck style. Pick a book and get reading!

  4. Sunday Brunch: I think a lot of people get stuck on dinner parties and think that’s the only time to have people over for a meal, but that’s just not true. I love the idea of having people over for a Sunday Brunch. You can relax more, have a latte station, grab pastries from a local bakery and pop a quiche into the oven. If you really want a casual vibe have your guests come in their PJs.

  5. Happy Hour: Sometimes you NEED a drink after work but the bar vibe just isn’t doing it. Why not skip the bar and head home with your friends instead. Set up a little charcuterie before you leave for work and enjoy when you get home with some wine or cocktails. I especially like this idea in the summer. After being in the office all day sitting outside and watching the sunset with friends sounds amazing.

  6. DIY Pizza Night: If you want something a bit more interactive and your friends like cooking, definitely try a DIY Pizza Night. You don’t have to make it complicated either. Grab some pre-made dough from a local grocery store and some wine.

  7. Summer Cookout: To me there’s nothing better than grilling in the summer. Keep it simple with lots of veggies and chicken or steak. I love to look up what’s in season and stick with that. Cooking seasonally really makes the ingredients standout.

Happy Hosting!
